cache.directory Privacy Policy
This policy describes how cache.directory handles personal information on cache.directory. We collect as little as we need to operate a static catalog, optional analytics, and a public API that does not require an account.
Information we collect
Browsing catalog pages does not require an account. If you email hello@cache.directory or legal@cache.directory, we store the message and the address you used so we can reply. The 404 “prioritize this entry” form fields stay in your browser unless we later wire a backend; do not treat that form as a confirmed submission pipeline. Server logs on Cloudflare may include IP address, user-agent, and requested path so we can operate rate limits and investigate abuse of /api/*.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel load only after you accept optional cookies in the consent banner. Essential storage is limited to remembering that consent choice. You can use the site, including llms.txt and the public API, without accepting marketing cookies. See the banner on any HTML page.
How we use information
Email is used to answer corrections, legal requests, and developer questions. We do not sell subscriber lists. Public API responses contain catalog content, not your personal data. Aggregated request logs may inform which shelves to refresh; they are not sold as an audience product.
Retention and deletion
Support email is kept long enough to finish the request, then according to ordinary mailbox retention. Security logs rotate on a rolling window measured in weeks unless needed for an active abuse investigation. To ask us to delete an email thread, write to hello@cache.directory from the same address.
Children
cache.directory is general-audience developer documentation. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child submitted an email, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update this page when collection practices change. The heading and URL remain /privacy so agents and search engines can keep a stable trust anchor. Questions about this policy go to hello@cache.directory.
